What is electronics?

Electrical and electronic equipment covers products that rely on electric current or electromagnetic fields to operate and are designed for a voltage up to 1,000 volts (alternating current) or 1,500 volts (direct current). These products are subject to producer responsibility, regardless of whether they are used in private households or for business purposes.

Who is covered by the electronics manufacturer responsibility?

Companies that manufacture, import or market electrical and electronic equipment in Denmark are covered by producer responsibility. The responsibility applies regardless of whether the company produces, imports, sells under its own name or sells directly to Danish consumers from abroad.

Producers

Companies that manufacture electrical and electronic equipment in Denmark are considered manufacturers and are given producer responsibility.

Importers

Companies that import electrical and electronic equipment into Denmark are considered manufacturers.

Remote sales companies

Companies outside Denmark that sell electrical and electronic equipment directly to Danish consumers also have responsibilities as manufacturers.
