What is disposable plastic?

Single-use plastics include products from eight specific categories if they contain plastic in whole or in part - even if the plastic content is very small. This also applies, for example, to cardboard mugs and food containers made of cardboard with plastic lines.
Plastic food containers and drinking cups (incl. capsules and lids)
Plastic beverage bottles and containers
Lightweight plastic carrier bags and wrapping bags
Wet wipes, balloons and filters for tobacco products
Pawn bottles are regulated by a separate legislation

Who is covered by single-use plastic producer responsibility

Companies that manufacture, import or market single-use plastic products in Denmark are covered by producer responsibility. Liability applies regardless of whether you produce, import, sell under your own name or sell directly to Danish consumers from abroad.

Producers

Companies that manufacture single-use plastic products in Denmark are considered producers and are given producer responsibility. It could be, for example, a Danish factory that produces single-use food containers.

Importers

Companies that bring single-use plastic products into Denmark from abroad are considered manufacturers. An example is a company that imports cardboard mugs with plastic liner from Germany.

Remote sales companies

Companies outside Denmark that sell single-use plastic products directly to Danish consumers also have responsibilities as producers.
