Producer responsibility organisation (PRO)

What a PRO is, what it does for you, and why it is often required by law.

Many companies, one PRO

A producer responsibility organisation (PRO) is a private organisation that takes over producers' legal responsibility for waste.

Instead of every company keeping track of registration, documentation and deadlines on its own, many companies share one organisation. Members supply their figures. We validate the data, handle the finances and report on to DPA (Dansk Producentansvar) on our members' behalf.

Why a PRO is often required by law

Extended producer responsibility applies to whoever first places products on the Danish market. That includes imports and online shops.

In several product areas the responsibility must be met through a PRO. In the others it is in practice the simplest route, because handling it yourself means taking on collection, documentation and reporting.

If you are unsure whether you are covered, start on the page about extended producer responsibility. There you will find the rules for each area.

Legal basis. The rules follow from the Danish Environmental Protection Act and the ministerial orders for each product area. See the individual product area for what applies to you.

We register you in the Danish producer register

We take you all the way through pre-registration, including the fiddly MitID approval.

    You supply your figures

You report your volumes on our self-service platform, with reminders before every deadline.

  4. 4

    We validate and report

We quality-check your data and report on to DPA on your behalf.

    One combined settlement

The environmental contribution and all regulatory fees are invoiced through us. One bill instead of three channels.

In some areas you can go it alone. But then the whole job sits with you.

One PRO for all of it

We are the only PRO in Denmark approved across all six product areas. Same agreement, same contact person and same platform, however many product areas you are a producer in.

3,800+ members have placed their producer responsibility with us.

Membership from DKK 795 a year

The price is per product area, with DKK 0 to set up and no notice period.

Membership is not the whole picture. The environmental contribution and the regulatory fees come on top, but it all lands on one combined bill from us.

On top of that, DPA's one-off registration fee. DKK 1,000 for setting up and the first product area, DKK 500 per additional product area. The fees go to the authorities, not to us.

Questions about PROs

No. Cancellation takes effect immediately, and there is no notice period.
No. We are the only PRO approved across all six product areas, so you get the same agreement, contact person and platform for all of it.

Shall we take on your producer responsibility?

Book a call and we will work out what applies to you. You get a person on the line, not a queue.
