Extended producer responsibility for vehicles
If you make passenger cars or vans available on the market in Denmark, you are responsible for making sure they are treated correctly when they become end-of-life vehicles.

What you must comply with for Vehicles
Producer responsibility covers many different obligations. We have gathered the nine most common, so you can quickly see which ones apply to vehicles.
Registration in the Danish producer register
Register in the producer register (with DPA) no later than 14 days before you make vehicles available on the market.
PRO required
Voluntary. Only a PRO can apply for exemption from the financial guarantee.
Relief for smaller companies
The drop-off obligation applies only to producers that are not part of a PRO and that make more than 20 vehicles available on the market a year. As a member with us you are exempt from it, whatever the number.
Eco-modulation
The contribution is modulated, with a 20% surcharge for the red group.
Ongoing reporting to the PRO
Report volumes to your PRO every quarter.
Annual statement to DPA
Report the number of vehicles to DPA by 31 March at the latest.
Financial guarantee
Provide a guarantee every year. As a member the PRO provides it, or you are exempt while the PRO carries the liability.
Collection and treatment
Above 20 vehicles a year you must ensure drop-off at a dealer or treatment facility less than 50 km away.
Self-monitoring
Carry out self-monitoring of financing and data quality. The PRO can take it over.
Passenger cars and vans on the Danish market
Producer responsibility for vehicles covers the passenger cars and vans you make available on the market in Denmark. The responsibility is about what happens when the vehicle reaches the end of its life and has to be scrapped and recycled.
An end-of-life vehicle is called an ELV. It has to be handed in to a registered treatment facility that treats and recycles it.

Are you the producer?
You are the producer the first time you put a vehicle on the Danish market. Here are four typical examples, but reality holds many more.
You import vehicles
You bring passenger cars or vans into Denmark to sell them.
Manufacturer or representative
You manufacture or represent a vehicle brand on the market.
Parallel and re-imports
You make used or parallel-imported vehicles available on the market.
More than 20 vehicles a year
Then the 50 km drop-off obligation applies as well.
Recognise even one? Then you are the producer.
If you make fewer than 20 vehicles available on the market a year, you are free of the drop-off obligation. Registration, the financial guarantee and reporting still apply.
Quarterly reporting and an annual statement
For vehicles you report every quarter to the PRO and file an annual statement to DPA covering the vehicles you have made available on the market and taken back.
The guarantee is provided every year with an allocation period starting 1 September, and your PRO provides it for you. Treatment facilities report by 15 April at the latest.
Do you have responsibility in several product areas?
One product can trigger several producer responsibilities at once. A vehicle holds both batteries and electronics. We cover every product area, with one subscription per area and one combined bill.
